Dassault Falcon pilots, maintenance technicians and flight attendants can now undergo hands-on training with cabin communications systems, including satellite communications, as FlightSafety and Satcom Direct have teamed on a cabin communications lab at the Teterboro Learning Center. To best simulate what they will encounter in the cabin and cockpit, FlightSafety Customers train on equipment and technology by Satcom Direct and its partners Inmarsat, Iridium and ViaSat in the lab and its classrooms. The training includes use of the Satcom Direct router and numerous variations of Dassault Falcon cabin LAN installations.
“We are proud to join with Satcom Direct to provide training so essential to dispatch reliability and passenger satisfaction. Customers and employees who undergo advanced training through the cabin communications lab will undoubtedly benefit from the partnership,” says Danny Robayo, Center Manager for the Teterboro Learning Center. “Not only will crew know the ins and outs of communications systems, but they’ll be far more able to explain their operation to passengers.”
Satellite Cabin Communications
A new Satellite Cabin Communications course, developed in conjunction with Satcom Direct, provides both operational and technical-based training for pilots, cabin attendants and maintenance crewmembers operating onboard satellite communications technology. The training covers all aspects of Satcom technology and demonstrates the communication equipment available on multiple aircraft types. This includes how the satellite functions and instruction on the use of cabin internet, voice systems and troubleshooting for the flight crew. An optional in-depth module will be available for maintenance technicians in the future.
The one-day course includes an introduction to Satcom technology, overview of satellites and connectivity, use of cabin systems, troubleshooting both in the air and on the ground, scenario-based lab and a review of apps and mobile devices, among other topics.
The Satellite Solutions Leader
Satcom Direct is the leading provider of satellite solutions for flight deck and cabin communications, including real-time voice and broadband data solutions using phone, Internet and video.
The Teterboro Falcon training includes fundamentals of how communications satellites function and instruction on the operation of Internet and voice systems for the flight crew. Maintenance personnel learn to troubleshoot and maintain the systems. Both crews and maintenance personnel study the steps to take when encountering an inoperative system in flight or on the ground.
