NEW YORK (March 3, 2017) – FlightSafety International and Sikorsky, A Lockheed Martin Company, announce the entry into service of a new Graphical Flight-deck simulator designed specifically for the Sikorsky S-76D helicopter.
“The development and entry into service of a new Graphical Flight-deck simulator for the Sikorsky S-76D clearly demonstrates FlightSafety’s excellent working relationship with Sikorsky,” said David Davenport, Executive Vice President, Commercial. “This highly effective new device will further enhance the efficiency of the training we provide to operators of the Sikorsky S-76D around the world.”
“This complementary device significantly enhances the full-spectrum learning experience,” said Sikorsky’s Vice President, Commercial Systems & Services, Dana Fiatarone. “It enables pilots to familiarize themselves with the cockpit, aircraft systems and the avionics suite prior to flying the full flight simulator, and allows pilots to fully focus on in-depth flight training in the Level-D qualified simulator.”
The Graphical Flight-deck simulator is a key component of MATRIX, FlightSafety’s Integrated Learning System. MATRIX is used throughout FlightSafety Learning Centers and by other leading organizations worldwide. This innovative suite of flight training tools draws upon the same software that drives FlightSafety’s Level D-qualified flight simulators.
Graphical Flight-deck simulators provide interactive representations of the aircraft’s flight-deck on touch-screen monitors. This allows the user to monitor or perform virtually all the functions that would be performed in the aircraft. The Desktop Simulators are designed for use in training classrooms for instructor-led or self-paced instruction. This is an interactive PC-based training system that is used to demonstrate and learn the function and control of aircraft systems. The SimVu briefing and debriefing systems provide detailed visual representations of full flight simulator training sessions.
FlightSafety is proud to have served as a factory authorized training provider for Sikorsky since 1983. Training for Sikorsky helicopters is available at FlightSafety’s Learning Centers in Dallas, Texas; Lafayette, Louisiana; Singapore; Stavanger, Norway: West Palm Beach, Florida; and at the Farnborough Airport in the United Kingdom
