FlightSafety Promotes Otto Gambrel to Assistant Manager, West Palm Beach Learning Center

NEW YORK (April 15, 2014) – FlightSafety International announces that Otto Gambrel has been promoted to Assistant Manager of its Learning Center in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Otto joined FlightSafety in 2001 as an instructor at the Savannah Learning Center. He most recently served as Program Manager at the company’s Learning Center in Hong Kong. Previously, Otto was responsible for FlightSafety’s EASA instructor training and qualification program at the company’s Learning Centers in Atlanta and Savannah.

Prior to joining FlightSafety, Otto worked as a Part 121 and Part 91 pilot flying Embraer EMB 120, Bombardier CRJ, Boeing 737-700 and Gulfstream G550 aircraft. Otto served in the United States Army for more than 10 years. He flew the UH-60A/L Blackhawk helicopter and was pilot-in-command for the 236th Medical Company in Iraq for Operation Desert Shield/Storm, for the 159th Aviation Regiment in Turkey and Northern Iraq for Operation Provide Comfort, and Operation Joint Endeavor in Bosnia.

Otto is a graduate of Excelsior College in Albany, New York. He is a dual-rated pilot holding fixed wing and rotorcraft pilot certificates. Otto was honored with FlightSafety’s Best of the Best Instructor Award in 2010.

The West Palm Beach Learning Center offers training using full flight simulators for the Sikorsky S-76C+, Sikorsky S-76 C+ C++, Sikorsky S-70/UH-60, Sikorsky S-92, and Sikorsky S-76D. The Center also offers training for the Piaggio P180 Avanti, and Piaggio P180 Avanti II.

Paul Statskey succeeds Otto as Program Manager at FlightSafety’s Hong Kong Learning Center. He joined FlightSafety in 2012 at the Hong Kong Center as an instructor for the Gulfstream G550 aircraft. Prior to joining FlightSafety, Paul was with Federal Express where he flew the Airbus A300 and acted as Captain on the Boeing 727.

He served with the United States Navy for over 27 years, earned Navy Wings of Gold in 1969, and retired in 1995 as Chief of Staff, Naval Air Training Command. Paul flew a variety of aircraft while in the Navy and accumulated over 900 carrier landings.

FlightSafety’s Hong Kong Learning Center offers Initial and Recurrent pilot training in the Gulfstream G550 aircraft, as well as differences training to Gulfstream GV series aircraft, using a G450/G550 interchangeable Level D qualified full flight simulator and other advanced training devices.
