FlightSafety and Transport Canada Sign Cooperative Agreement for the Approved Training Organization (ATO) Pilot Project

COLUMBUS, OH (June 1, 2023) – Transport Canada Civil Aviation (TCCA) and FlightSafety International (FSI), a global leader in aviation training and simulation, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the Approved Training Organization (ATO) Pilot Project.

This MOU establishes a framework for cooperation regarding the ATO Pilot Project and Transport Canada’s development of regulations for the certification and surveillance of ATOs. The ATO Pilot Project will help with the development of a formal standardized method of approving an aircraft-specific training program for pilots who are employed or sponsored by a holder of either a Private Operator Registration Document (PORD) issued under part VI, or a commercial Air Operator Certificate (AOC) issued under Part VII of the CARs. This MOU will allow FlightSafety to develop, maintain, and have ownership of the TCCA pre-approved aircraft specific training programs for Canadian pilots training with FSI.

FlightSafety is excited to work with TCCA and the Canadian aviation industry as the first training provider to sign an agreement promoting standardized and compliant pilot training for Canadian air operators.
