NEW YORK (September 2, 2014) – FlightSafety International announces that Neil Whiteman has joined the company as Vice President & Senior Counsel for FlightSafety Services Corporation.

FlightSafety will benefit from his legal and management experience in a major international law firm, the aerospace industry, and the United States Air Force.”
Neil’s responsibilities include government contracts and subcontracts, and intellectual property for FlightSafety’s government business. He leads the legal and business aspects of contract acquisition strategy, bid and proposal preparation, and performance. Neil also oversees the Teammate Resources function for FlightSafety Services Corporation.
Whiteman served in the United States Air Force for 25 years and held the rank of Colonel. Neil was the Director of the Air Force Commercial Litigation Division prior to retiring in 2009. In this role, he served as the Chief Trial Attorney for the Air Force and supervised a team of over 34 trial lawyers.
He then joined Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company in Sunnyvale, California as an associate general counsel. Neil served as legal counsel for the company’s Global Communications line of business. Prior to joining FlightSafety he was Of Counsel in the Washington, D.C. office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, LLP. He was a member of the firm’s Litigation Department and its Government and Commercial Contracts Practice Group.
Neil received his Juris Doctor degree from the West Virginia University College of Law where he served as the Editor-in-Chief of the West Virginia University Law Review and was a member of the Order of the Coif. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from the United States Air Force Academy, a Master of Science degree from the Air Force Institute of Technology, a Master of Laws degree in government contract law from the George Washington University Law School, and a Master of Science degree in national security studies from the National War College. Neil is an active member of the Bar in Colorado, Pennsylvania, and the District of Columbia.
