NEW YORK (October 20, 2014) – FlightSafety International announces that Satellite Cabin Communications training is now available at its Learning Center in Teterboro, New Jersey. The course was developed in conjunction with Satcom Direct. It provides both operational and technical-based training for pilots, cabin attendants and maintenance crewmembers operating onboard satellite communications technology.
“Offering Cabin Satellite Communications training in Teterboro is another example of FlightSafety’s commitment to work directly with industry experts to ensure the best possible training for our Customers who use these systems,” said Steve Gross, Vice President, Sales.
The training covers all aspects of satcom technology and demonstrates the communication equipment available on multiple aircraft types. This includes how the satellite functions and instruction on the use of cabin internet, voice systems and troubleshooting for the flight crew. An optional in-depth module will be available for maintenance technicians in the future.
“At the new satcom lab at the Teterboro Center, students will have a hands-on experience just like they would in the aircraft,” said Scott Hamilton, Satcom Direct chief strategy officer. “They’ll learn how to optimize computers and mobile devices for satellite internet and voice communications.”
The one-day course includes an introduction to satcom technology, overview of satellites and connectivity, use of cabin systems, troubleshooting both in the air and on the ground, scenario-based lab and a review of apps and mobile devices, among other topics.
