FlightSafety Names Suren Meras Assistant Manager of Its Learning Center in Toronto, Ontario

NEW YORK (May 13, 2014) – FlightSafety International announces that Suren Meras has been named Assistant Manager of the company’s Learning Center in Toronto, Ontario. He succeeds Tasneem Hashmi who has been named Center Manager.

Since joining FlightSafety in 2007, Suren has used his aviation experience and management skills to successfully serve as the Toronto Learning Center’s Director of Training. He supervised the development of courseware, training manuals, and checklists, and worked to ensure the materials were produced in accordance with regulatory requirements and FlightSafety’s standards. Suren oversaw many of the activities and processes required to schedule and deliver training, and assisted with the management and training of instructors and support staff.

Suren holds Airline Transport Pilot certificates issued by EASA, the FAA and Transport Canada. He is a qualified FAA Training Center Evaluator and EASA Type Rating Examiner. He has over 19,000 flight hours and is type rated in the Bombardier Dash 7, Dash 8 100, Dash 8 200, Q300, Q400 and all CRJ models.

He is a graduate of Seneca College and York University where he studied Child Psychology and Business Administration. Suren holds diplomas in Law Enforcement from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Academy and Canadian School of Private Investigation, and completed FlightSafety’s Senior Leadership training program. Prior to joining FlightSafety Suren was Chief Pilot, Head of Training, and a JAA Senior Examiner at Tyrolean Airways. He was also a Captain at City Express Airlines and Supervising Flight and Ground School Instructor at Central Airways Corporation.

FlightSafety’s Toronto Learning Center is equipped with 9 flight simulators. It offers training for the Bombardier Dash 6, Dash 7, Dash 8 100/200/300, and Q400 aircraft, as well as the Beech 1900D.
