FSI Defense to Provide Advanced Simulation and Instruction to U.S. Army Aviators

GDIT selects FSI Defense as subcontractor for simulation manufacturing and training to the U.S. Army’s Aviation Center of Excellence for flight school training, support, and services.

Fort Worth, Texas (June 22, 2023) – General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) selected subcontractor FSI Defense, a FlightSafety International company, to deliver services and support to the U.S. Army’s Aviation Center of Excellence (USAACE) at Fort Novosel, Alabama. The 12-year Flight School Training, Support, and Services (FSTSS) contract provides manufacturing, advanced simulation training, and instruction to military aviators and international partners for initial pilot qualification and advanced aircrew training.

“Even in training, our nation’s military aircrews perform complex and dangerous operations,” said Dan Davis, FSI Defense president. “Our team is committed to providing the best training possible so they can complete their mission and safely return home.”

FSI Defense’s advanced flight simulators provide entry-level and experienced pilots with the necessary skills to overcome degraded visual conditions, system failures, and power loss. Simulated environments provide a low-risk solution for individual, collective and combined arms training environments and mission rehearsals.

“FSI Defense has provided USAACE with over 1.6 million hours of simulated mission time tailored to meet the FSTSS program requirements since 2005 at a 99.99% availability rating with zero government deficiency reports. We look forward to building on these achievements, ensuring our military aircrews accomplish their mission,” said Tom Carlisle, FSI Defense vice president of government programs.

Through close collaboration with Boeing, the aircraft manufacturer, FSI Defense, will produce a fleet of new high-fidelity AH-64 Apache Guardian full-flight simulators at their Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, production facility. FSI Defense will field the training devices in a new simulator facility near Fort Novosel in Daleville, Alabama. Team collaboration will continue throughout the program’s lifecycle as FSI Defense and Boeing support trainer concurrency with the aircraft baseline.
